Occupational Therapy is a skilled treatment that helps individuals achieve independence in all facets of their lives. It gives people the skills necessary for living an independent and satisfying life. Our home care occupational therapists assist people in gaining independence with tasks such as dressing, showering, and home management. Occupational therapists may make recommendations for adaptive equiptment to increase a person's safety and independence with these tasks. Occupational therapists help people increase their strength and endurance to complete these tasks with increased ease. Occupational therapists also fit hand splints, make recommendations for modifying a home, assess and treat cognitive impairments, and complete wheelchair evaluations.
Physical Therapy is a specialty that includes evaluation and treatment of physical dysfunction or injury using education, manual techniques, exercise, and modalities to relieve pain, restore maximum function and prevent disability and/or re-injury. Physical therapists are experts in movement, especially movement that must be addressed once there is a change in the “normal” movement patterns. Our home care physical therapists work with many types of patients, from infants born with musculoskeletal birth defects, to adults suffering from sciatica or the aftereffects of injury, to elderly post-stroke patients. Our physical therapists provide the following treatments: gait training transfer training, home exercise program development, home exit management, fall prevention, progressive resistive exercises, pain management, incontinence treatment, and wound care.
Speech TherapySpeech Therapy is the treatment of speech and communication disorders. Depending on the disorder, our home care speech therapists may assist in physical exercises to strengthen the muscles used in speech. Our speech therapists also conduct speech drills to improve clarity, or sound production practice to improve articulation.
